General Intuition Discussing New Round at $6 Billion Valuation

Physical AI developer General Intuition is negotiating a new investment round that would peg its pre-money valuation at approximately $6 billion, according to reports. The discussions signal a steep escalation in price for the New York-based firm, which secured $320 million at a $2.3 billion valuation only a few weeks prior.

The emerging financing package is set to include participation from Valor Equity Partners, Point72 Ventures, and Seven Seven Six. Previous backers General Catalyst and Khosla Ventures are also expected to commit additional capital to the round.

Founded and directed by chief executive Pim de Witte, General Intuition develops foundational models tailored for physical systems and robotics. The company intends to channel the incoming capital into scaling its high-performance compute footprint, hiring specialized research and engineering personnel, and advancing its core model architecture.

The Escalating Cost of Physical Intelligence

The funding pursuit highlights the intense venture appetite for startups aiming beyond text and code generation toward "embodied AI" - systems capable of perceiving spatial environments and executing physical actions. Much like large language model developers before them, physical AI laboratories face severe upfront compute costs to train multi-modal systems on sensor telemetry, simulation runs, and real-world video.

Whether General Intuition can translate rapid valuation step-ups into deployable robotics models remains the central question. As venture capital concentrates heavily into a handful of foundation model builders, investors are underwriting aggressive pre-money valuations on the expectation that spatial AI will unlock massive industrial automation markets.
