Palo Alto Networks has acquired Console, an AI-powered IT automation startup, in a cash-and-stock transaction valued at approximately $500 million, according to a report from TechCrunch. While both companies confirmed the acquisition, they declined to publicly disclose the price tag.

Founded in 2024 by Andrei Serban, Console built autonomous AI agents designed to handle routine help desk chores without manual intervention. Its software resolved basic troubleshooting tickets, managed password resets, and provisioned workplace tools such as Figma and Miro for clients including Scale AI, Ramp, and Flock Safety. Serban launched the startup following the sale of his previous code-security company, Fuzzbuzz, to HR platform Rippling.

The exit marks a swift and lucrative return for early backers. Console had secured $29 million across two rounds: a $6.2 million seed led by Thrive Capital and a $23 million Series A co-led by Thrive and DST Global, with additional support from SV Angel and Abstract Ventures. Nikesh Arora, chief executive of Palo Alto Networks, had also personally backed the company as an angel investor prior to its last valuation of $157 million.

Palo Alto Networks intends to fold Console into Cortex, its enterprise threat detection and response suite. By adding Console's conversational agents, the security provider wants to allow internal teams to investigate and remediate security events using natural language. Arora stated that the technology equips Cortex with "the arms and legs to deliver autonomous security outcomes across the entire enterprise."

The Race to Absorb Agentic IT

The deal underscores how legacy enterprise vendors are aggressively buying up agentic automation tools to reinforce their core platforms before emerging challengers reach scale. Console had been competing with Serval, an IT support upstart that hit a $1 billion valuation after securing $75 million in Series B capital. Console's rapid sale leaves fewer independent players in the IT service management market and signals that major security vendors see automated operations as essential to defense.

Console marks the seventh corporate acquisition for Palo Alto Networks in 2026. The company has maintained an aggressive M&A streak throughout the year, previously spending $3.35 billion to purchase observability provider Chronosphere and $400 million to buy security startup Koi.
