Replit CEO Amjad Masad to Address Rapid Growth and AI Coding Shift at TechCrunch Disrupt

Replit’s financial expansion over the last two years has become one of the clearest demonstrations of the generative coding boom. After posting just $2.8 million in reported revenue in 2024, the collaborative development platform is now tracking toward an annual revenue run-rate of $1 billion.

Chief executive and co-founder Amjad Masad will discuss the mechanisms behind that acceleration, alongside the broader implications of automated development, when he appears on stage at TechCrunch Disrupt in San Francisco this October.

That top-line surge has prompted private markets to rapidly re-evaluate the company. Investors awarded Replit a $9 billion valuation earlier this year - a threefold increase from a $3 billion valuation recorded only six months prior.

While Masad established the startup a decade ago primarily as an in-browser sandbox for programmers, the company’s trajectory pivoted dramatically over the last 18 months. By embedding autonomous agents and assistive code generation, Replit repositioned its service from an educational coding environment into an engine designed to take non-technical creators from prompt to deployed application.

The High-Stakes Shift to Automated Software

Replit’s trajectory highlights an industry-wide pivot toward automated development, where artificial intelligence lowers technical barriers while putting pressure on traditional engineering workflows. Yet sustaining this rapid expansion will depend on whether AI-generated software proves reliable enough for mission-critical production environments, or remains largely confined to rapid prototyping.
