The AI & Media List 2026: The 56 People Rewiring How Culture Gets MadeThe Scale Report

The AI & Media List is our 2026 editorial selection of 56 people whose documented work is changing how media is made, distributed and understood. It is numbered from 1 to 56 and organized across seven categories, from film and television to games, music, creative products, art and research.

The list is not a popularity contest and it is not built on scores or awards. Each entry names a specific contribution and links to public sources, so readers can check the work rather than take a claim on trust. The Scale Report built the directory the same way it reports a story, by starting with primary evidence.

Who is on the list

The opening group spans studios, labs and stages. James Cameron sits on the board of an image model company. Ben Affleck is building a production venture around synthetic tooling. will.i.am and Grimes are working through what authorship means when a voice can be licensed. Jensen Huang, Demis Hassabis and Fei-Fei Li supply the compute and the models the rest of the list depends on. David Baszucki runs the platform where a generation already builds.

Around them sit the people who ship the tools: the founders behind Runway, Suno, ElevenLabs, Midjourney, Luma, Pika, Inworld and Canva, alongside artists such as Refik Anadol, Sougwen Chung and Malik Afegbua, and researchers including Hany Farid, Tali Dekel and Hao Li working on provenance, detection and reconstruction.

Seven categories

Film and television, games and interactive, music and audio, creative products and platforms, art and design, agencies and studios, and research and integrity. Every profile carries the same structure: role, a one line contribution, a short biography, tags, outbound links to the person or company, and the sources used to verify the entry.

How to read it

Numbers are fixed and stay with each person when the list is filtered or searched, so a rank is a stable reference rather than a moving target. Portraits are sourced from named institutional pages, press material or the subject directly, and each one is credited.
